“lms if you read”

  • offers disabled people who require validation and/or attention to survive with both of these things
  • shows people in rough times that people care about them if someone is unable to type up a message to send to them or is triggered by what said person is going through
  • helps create a sense of security when talking about extremely personal things so that the op will know who read personal information about their life

but y’all are against it because ????? oh yeah no reason bye

no one thinks its a bad thing to do?? the concern is how certain uses of it can affect OTHER mentally ill people, with things like avpd, who can feel stressed and threatened and guilty IF the op, for example, puts “like if you read” at the end of a post instead of the start, so that someone casually reading their dash is suddenly locked into an obligation to like the post, which then presents the problem of either feeling guilty for not being willing to like it or feeling forced to give an emotional response/draw attention to themself against their will

i dont know what sort of posts youve seen on the subject but all i’ve seen is just advising people to try to use “like if read” more sparingly + put it at the start of posts in order to compromise with people who are distressed by it, and to understand that if you want your entire blog to be on a lms basis then some people just cant interact with it. causing distress for people with social and avoidance problems isnt “no reason” thanks
